WhatsApp display name rules (and why names get rejected)
Your display name is what customers see on your WhatsApp business profile. Meta reviews it against your public branding — most rejections happen because the name isn't visibly yours.
The golden rule
The name must appear on your website, exactly as written. If it's a program/brand name owned by another business, both websites must state the relationship, and you'll need to raise a ticket with Meta including both URLs.
Formatting rules
- Grammatically correct capitalization matching your brand ("Young Trendz", not "YOUNG TRENDZ" — unless you genuinely brand in all caps).
- Same spacing as your brand name ("Lil'Muffin", not "Lil' Muffin").
- No emojis, punctuation decorations, or ™/® symbols.
- Minimum 3 characters; not a URL ("SauteSan", not "SauteSan.com").
- Extra words only if they indicate region, department, or test account — capitalized ("Saute San Support" ✓, "Saute San official account" ✗).
- Can't be only a person's name, a generic term ("Fashion"), a location ("London"), or a slogan.
Pick the name during API setup; changes after approval trigger a re-review.
Frequently asked questions
Why was my WhatsApp display name rejected?
The most common reason: the name doesn't appear on your website. Your display name must match your brand as customers see it externally — same wording, same capitalization, no extra words, emojis or trademark symbols.
